This solution for an event space in downtown Newark was devised through the requirement to hold the urban grid and maintain viewports by using cut lines to form and cut away the building shape. The massing was held along the street edge and divided in the middle in order to hold the view and path corridor starting from the PAC Center on the west to the warehouse grid on the east side of the river. The program space was divided so that smaller gallery spaces are on the upper floor to the south and the main event space on the lower level to the north. They are connected with a bridge that houses the lobby and spans over the exterior circulation below.
